How to Combine Blues & Minor Scales to Make New, Creepy Crossover Licks

Lesson description: Here's a neat idea: start a simple improv phrase in one scale, and then end it in another! In this scenario, I'm weaving back and forth between A blues and A Harmonic Minor. This is a great way to spice up your playing when in minor keys and you wanna keep it raw and edgy with good ol' blues, but add some color via the creepy tones available in the full minor!

The hard part is the ability to see both scales at once--when you're in blues, see the minor, and vice versa. I talk about this in other vids too--when I look down at the fretboard, I see it in layers: chords and scales. Depending on what I want to do, I bring certain layers to the top.
